JONAH 1:1-12

"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" (Romans 6:16 KJV)

God spoke to Jonah to go to Nineveh and give them a message of an imminent judgment because of their terrible sins but Jonah made up his mind to disobey God. He knew there would be consequences but he damned it. Our text shows that Jonah decided to run away but he found a ship already going to Tarshish which made it easier for him. That ship was so available to aid Jonah carry out his misbehavior.

Are you a ship assisting someone accomplish misbehavior? Do not be a willing tool in the hand of the devil. Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Don't allow your body to satisfy someone's selfish desires and greed. Do not give place to the devil because when he comes in, you would lose what you have achieved in Christ. The traders threw their wares into the sea just to save themselves from drowning. They lost their cool, their peace, their rest because they got into a boat with just one man.

Have you prayed concerning the journey you are making or about making, the vehicle you will board and who should accompany you? Do not just call everybody to join you in your important trips or outings? Just one wrong decision is enough to sink a boat beloved. Please be careful who you decide to partner with, who gets into the boat of life with you, who you choose to be a friend, confidant, spouse etc. These kinds of decisions must be taken in agreement with God.

Obeying God has no substitute. Don't disorganise lives because of your disobedience.
