Text: John 14:16-18
Memory Verse: Luke 1:80
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit and was in deserts till the days of his shewing unto Israel.
INTRODUCTION
The Holy Spirit dwells in the believer. This is because God also wants to fulfil and baptize the believer with the Holy Spirit to empower him to serve and glorify God in the world.
DISCUSSION
More works of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life.
He Empowers Us To Witness: The Holy Spirit empowers us with power and boldness to witness to the unbelievers. Jesus asked his disciples to wait to be empowered before they started witnessing. This is still true today in the life of every believer. (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49)
He Introduced The Supernatural Realm: The Holy Spirit introduces the believer to the supernatural where signs and wonders occur. He makes the believers to manifest their different gifts for the benefits of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
He Glorifies Jesus: One thing the Holy Spirit is to direct the believers’ attention to Jesus Christ. He will not speak of his own but that of Jesus Christ. (John 15:26; 16:13-15)
REVIEW QUESTION
What should we not do to the Holy Spirit? (Ephesians 4:30)
CONCLUSION
We can’t over emphasize the importance of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life.
