The Power in the Name of Jesus (The Name Above Every Name)

Text: Philippians 2:5-11

Memory Verse: Philippians 2:9

Wherefore, God also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name.

INTRODUCTION

The name Jesus Christ is above every name on earth and beneath the earth. The name Jesus Christ is above every principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). The name of Jesus is so powerful that at the mention of Jesus, every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is the Lord. (Philippians 2:10-11)

DISCUSSION

Why is the name Jesus above every name?

Jesus is the Second in Command Among the Trinity That Bears Record in Heaven: He is the word of God and the Bible also declares him God before creation. He was there in the beginning and nothing was made without him. (John 1:1-5)

Jesus, the Master Teacher And Lord: He never attended any university, yet he was called the Master Teacher. He as all knowing is the greatest teacher that ever existed in the whole earth. (John 3:2; 13:13)

Jesus is the Wisdom of God: The world was lost in sin and became hopeless in direction having abandoned the Creator. God in his mercies introduced Jesus to recover and reconcile man back to God. Wisdom is preaching to save them that believe. (1 Corinthians 1:21-24)

CONCLUSION

God hates pride and the Bible said that pride goes before destruction. Remember king Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:30-35). 

Hence, it is expected of every born again child of God to be humble so that the Lord can lift you up.
