Text: Colossians 1:12-17
Memory Verse: Colossians 1:17
And he is before all things and by him all things exist.
INTRODUCTION
The name Jesus is a name every believer cannot do without. Christ is supreme in creation, in salvation and in the church which is the body of Christ. (Colossians 1:16)
DISCUSSION
How do we confirm that Jesus is the creator?
He is the Word Of God: Before the beginning of creation, Jesus existed. (Genesis 1:26; John 1:1). Confirmed that the word (Jesus) existed was with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
He Has the Pre-Eminence: Jesus is first in everything. He is the first born, the head, the beginning in honor and importance. He surpasses all others in glory. He is the King of kings, Lord of lords et cetera. (Colossians 1:18)
He Knows All Things: He knows all things before they happen. Nothing takes him by surprise. (Colossians 1:19-20)
REVIEW QUESTION
What makes Jesus to be called a creator? (Genesis 1:1-3)
CONCLUSION
The name Jesus means so much to us as believers. The name Jesus is not comparable to any other name. It is a name that suits every situation in life.
