The Efficacy of the Blood of Jesus (The Atonement of the Blood of Jesus)

Text: Isaiah 53:3-12

Memory Verse: Isaiah 53:4

Surely he hath borne our grief and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.

INTRODUCTION

In creation God placed before man (Adam) to choose between life and death. But man (Adam) chose death. God showed mercy in the Old Testament with the atonement of the blood of animal sacrifice which covered sins but could not wash away sins. So, God decide to send His only begotten son, Jesus Christ who died and made an atonement of sins with his blood for once. (Romans 5:8-9)

DISCUSSION

What is the uniqueness of Jesus atonement?

Atonement is Good News: Before the atonement man was caged in prison, spiritually blind, bruised and in captivity. But Jesus Christ came with the good news of salvation and set man free from all these yokes and bondages. (Luke 4:18-19)

Jesus Took Our Punishment: The Bible said that the soul that sinneth it shall die. The punishment or penalty of sin is death both spiritually and physically. But Jesus Christ died for us so that we will live. (1 Peter 2:21-24)

Jesus Secured Our Salvation By His Blood: The scripture says without shedding of blood there is no remission of sins, hence, Jesus willingly offered himself to die the shameful death once on the cross. So he secured our salvation by shedding his blood as a seal on the cross. (Acts 20:28)

CONCLUSION

Jesus died to rescue us from eternal punishment that we deserved. Thanks be to the Almighty God for his love for mankind. Believers should reciprocate the love of God by always abiding in his way. (Colossians1:13)
