Text: Hebrews 5:12-14

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 2:2

As new born babes desire the pure milk of the Word that you may grow thereby.

INTRODUCTION

As a person speaks, he displays his level of wisdom or emptiness. The Bible text shows that God wants us to grow into spiritual maturity. It is also the desire of parents for their children. But it is sad to find out that many Christians who ought to be leaders and teachers of the Word are still infants and immature. They had refused to grow and had chosen to be immature Christians.

DISCUSSION

Let's study Jesus Christ' example of growth. (Luke 2:40, 51-52)

He grew physically

He grew in wisdom

He grew in the spirit

He grew in grace

He grew in obedience to his parents

He was baptized and studied the Word. (Luke 3:21-22, 4:15-20)

He was baptized in water

He was baptized in the Holy Spirit

He studied the Word of God

REVIEW QUESTION

What other areas did Jesus Christ personally develop? (Mark 1:35)

CONCLUSION

Personal development in maturity does not just happen. We must work it out and develop our potentials to be effective and efficient.
