Text: Genesis 12:1-5
Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
INTRODUCTION
The Christian race is work of faith. No one can please God without exercising faith. You fix your eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen. (2 Corinthians 4:18; 2 Corinthians 5:7). Abraham succeeded in his walk with God because he did not wait to know were God was leading him before he chose to obey.
DISCUSSION
How do you respond to God's leading?
By Continual Prayer: Most times, you pray for God to help guide your steps as he leads so you don't make mistake. To knows that you are following God's plan for your life is to keep praying. (Jeremiah 33:3; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Trust God: Having faith is having trust in God. You do not depend in your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Living in Obedience: When you obey God promptly, He is pleased with you. (Psalm 119:60), your positive response to God encourages you to do the same over and over again, especially when you experience blessing. (Luke 5:5-6; Genesis 12:1-4)
Be Focused: Being focused is a dedicated effort toward the accomplishment of a task or a blessing. God leads persons who are dedicated to his work (Luke 9:62). Elisha refused to be distracted and got a double portion of Elijah's spirit (2 Kings 2:5-13)
REVIEW QUESTION
What is the evidence of your faith as a believer? (James 2:17)
CONCLUSION
God is moved to lead you unto action by your faith. You show your faith by entering into rest which is your evidence that God will do it for you. (Hebrews 4:11)
