Text: Genesis 20:1-11

Memory Verse: Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man bringeth snare, but whoso putteth his truth in the Lord shall be safe.

INTRODUCTION

The fear of man for his fellow man is demonically influenced. It is an aberration to God’s ordinance. This is because the heart of Man is desperately wicked to intimidate, suppress, oppress and have dominion beyond God’s command. He does this to his fellow man because he has lost the fear of God. (Genesis 1:26; 9:2; Romans 3:18)

DISCUSSION

What are some implications of the fear of man?

Distrust: The fear of man creates unhealthy relationship among human beings. It expresses doubt and disbelieves towards one another. (Gen. 26:7)

Strife: The fear of man has caused disunity among human beings. This is an attempt to resist this fear as resulted in conflict. (Exodus 20:13-14)

Secrecy: The fear of man has made man to be skeptical lied in his dealing with his fellow man. This has jettisoned honestly and sincerity in their relationship with one another. (Genesis 31:19-27)
