Introduction:
In Deuteronomy 30:19, Moses presents a profound choice to the Israelites: "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." This fundamental choice remains before us today. As Christians, we are called to choose life – not just physical existence but eternal life in Christ.
The Gift of Eternal Life:
Through faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the gift of eternal life. This life is not limited to our earthly existence but extends into eternity, where we will spend forever in God's presence.
"If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh." - John 6:51 (NKJV)
Choosing Life:
1. Accepting Jesus Christ:
The first step in choosing life is accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This decision invites God's presence and grace into our lives.
2. Living with Purpose:
With eternal life comes a sense of purpose. We are called to live intentionally, using our gifts and talents to glorify God and serve others.
3. Embracing God's Word:
Scripture is our guide for living a life that chooses God's ways. By embracing His Word, we find wisdom, comfort, and direction.
4. Seeking Spiritual Growth:
Choosing life means desiring spiritual growth and maturity. We pursue a deeper relationship with God through prayer, worship, and fellowship.
5. Sharing the Gift:
As recipients of eternal life, we are compelled to share this gift with others. Evangelism and discipleship become natural expressions of our faith.
Conclusion:
Choosing life is a decision that resonates throughout eternity. As we embrace the gift of eternal life in Christ, we find purpose, joy, and hope. May we encourage one another to choose life daily, living with the assurance that our souls are secure in God's love. "Choose life, so that you and your children may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)
